Shefali’s Palak Paneer

Here’s another family favorite of the Nanavati clan: palak paneer or saag paneer.  Translated into English it means spinch cheese, which on the face of it, doesn’t sound the most appetizing, but don’t let literal translations get in the way of tastiness.  This dish is delicious and every time Shefali cooks it, it’s better than the last. With the exception of the paneer which you can buy at an Indian grocery or make yourself all of the ingredients can be obtained at conventional groceries and the preparation is simple and straight forward.  Check out the ingredients and video below and soon enough you will be enjoying this dish as much as I do.

Ingredients (as usual quantities are suggested – please season to taste):

1 – 1 1/2  tbsp of grated ginger
1 tbsp finely minced garlic
1 serrano chili
1 -2 onions chopped
1 tomato
1 bag of frozen spinach
1 bag of fried paneer
1/2 -1 tsp cumin seeds
1 -2 tsp turmeric
2 tsp garam masala
1-2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red chili
squeeze of lemon juice
